Geoffrey Babbitt is author of A Grain of Sand in Lambeth (University of Nevada Press, forthcoming in December 2025) and Appendices Pulled from a Study on Light (Spuyten Duyvil 2018).
Winner of the 2023 Betsy Joiner Flanagan Poetry Prize in Interim Magazine’s Test Site Poetry Series, A Grain of Sand in Lambeth focuses on the visionary life and works of William Blake.
Babbitt’s poems and essays have appeared in North American Review, Pleiades, Colorado Review, LIT, DIAGRAM, Ben Jonson Journal, Notre Dame Review, Washington Square, Guesthouse, Cincinnati Review, and elsewhere.
Raised in Boise, Idaho, he studied English and philosophy at Connecticut College and earned an MFA and a PhD in English literature and creative writing from the University of Utah.
Babbitt is an Associate Professor of English & Creative Writing, and of Writing & Rhetoric, at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Seneca Review and Seneca Review Books, living with poet Kathryn Cowles and their three daughters in the Finger Lakes region of New York State.
